At Hilltop Vets, we are aware that when a cat or kitten arrives at the vets, the experience can cause huge anxiety. Dogs, which cats consider their predators, may be present in the waiting area and the sounds of dogs will put them on edge and even the smell of dogs on the vets themselves can cause additional anxiety.

When cats are fearful, they are less responsive to treatment. They may also remain stressed out for several days after their visit to the clinic and will associate the ordeal as something to fear in the future.  Our Cat Friendly Clinics will provide calm surroundings, free from the noises and smells that make them nervous, and our standard 20-minute appointments allow both clients and cats to relax in a comfortable environment.

Our waiting area is designed to segregate cats, dogs, and other small animals, so you will find nice cubby holes in which your cat will feel safe, and in these cubby holes we provide Feliway* infused blankets to add further comfort and reassurance to our visiting cats.

During our cat friendly clinics, we will be focusing solely on cat care, and can advise on areas, such as vaccinations, neutering, obesity, cystitis, kitten care, elderly cat care and chronic conditions often seen in our feline friends.

We have a whole section on our website devoted to making travel with your pets as stress free as possible – check out ‘Home to Hilltop’

*Feliway is a product that has been tested in clinical trials and is proven to provide comfort and reassurance to cats and kittens, reducing signs of stress and behaviours such as urine spraying, scratching, fighting, or hiding.
